Skits

Throughout the day there will be a series of approximately twenty short (five to seven minutes) one act skits depicting a day in 1972. The plays will run at regular intervals and will be in French or English and sometimes in both languages.
  • All dressed up and nowhere to go
  • Mrs. T has decided to renovate her kitchen and living room. Can she buy locally or does she have to go to Regina or Moose Jaw?
  • « Speak White »
  • Two teachers are talking about designated French schools and their roles in keeping the French language alive in Saskatchewan.
  • Arrivée des filles au Collège
  • A student shares her experiences as one of the first girls attending Collège Mathieu in 1972.
  • Le Mat
  • Three students discuss the MAT, the local high school band, and plan a « beer run ».
  • La vente de CFRG
  • Raymond Marcotte et Gerry Gauthier discuss the possibility of the local radio station being sold to Radio-Canada.
  • L'Eau vive
  • Roger Lalonde meets a woman on the street who tells him that she loves the newspaper L'Eau-vive. Lalonde has to admit that he not only receives praise for the paper, but criticism as well.
  • Groupes de jeunes
  • Wilfrid Denis, youth coordinator at l'ACFC, and Roger Lepage, student at Montmartre school, meet. They will discuss the idea of creating a youth association, like the Météorites and Chez Lavigne that have already been created in the northern towns.
  • Oulibe-pas d'écrire à ta mère
  • A conversation between a father and his son who would like to work in Alberta where wages are better. His father wants him to stay and take over the family farm.
  • La sécurité familiale
  • Mrs. Dupuis would like a good-paying job. She practices her interview with her husband who notices a few setbacks.
  • La bôite de Corn Flakes
  • Anderson is not impressed with Trudeau, nor with the fact that French is included as an official language.
  • « The Russians are coming! The Russians are coming! »
  • Two old men meet outside the post office. They exchange their news, wich is generally rumours without sources.
  • Don't mix sports and politics
  • A liberal and a conservative run into each other on the street. They talk about the last match between Canada and the USSR. Soon the discussion becomes political. They also mention the Munich games and the massacre that occured at the Olympics.
  • Ghost farms
  • A school bus driver talks about the changes of his route due to rural depopulation.
  • Chez Hélène tried her best
  • We examine the role the children's television show, Chez Hélène, played in Canadian society.
  • Fransaskois ou Franco-saskatchewanais
  • The new radio host, Rupert Baudais, has been assigned to do his program in the streets today since there is a street sale happening in town. His guest on today's program is his supervisor, the journalist Marcel Moor, who is also the editor for L'Eau vive.
  • Minijupe
  • An middle-aged woman is outraged by the new generation and their long hair, drugs…and mini-skirts.
  • « Moi, mes souliers... »
  • A young priest contemplates leaving the priesthood.
  • You can't get there from here anymore
  • An old timer recalls train service « in the good old days » and fears what losing the train service will do to Gravelbourg.
  • Échanges étudiants
  • A teenager and a woman discuss two different exchange programs.
  • What I did on my summer holidays
  • Two grade 12 students celebrate the fact that they have spending money because they had summer jobs through a Federal Youth Program.
